[1]Advanced
Placements (or AP’s as they’re more commonly known) are basically the American
equivalent of the A-level. They are actually
first year college courses which students can take whilst still in High
School. By taking these exams in school
an American student can obtain college credits for the AP's taken (and passed
successfully), and thereby possibly reduce the number of years the student must
spend in college. The AP's are graded
on a scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the equivalent of an A, and 1 the equivalent of
